World's Largest Buddhist Monk Ordination

The objective is to strengthen ethics and improve morality by allowing 100,000 men to be true monks for 49 days. As part of the Morality Revival Project by the abbot of the Dhammakaya temple in Thailand, a 100,000 monks mass ordination has been organized on Saturday 6th February 2010. The objective is to strengthen the ethical level and improve moral conducts by allowing 100,000 men to be true monks for 49 days. The mass ordination is hosted by the Dhammakaya Temple and 330 temples from every part of Thailand.

The Dhammakaya Temple is the world's largest Buddhist temple covering about 1,000 acres. The temple has been promoting Dhammakaya Meditation on the belief that achieving inner peace as an individual is a prerequisite to contributing to world peace.

The Dhammakaya Foundation is a member of the United Nations and has participated in many international events promoting world peace as well as intra- and inter-religion unity.

Funded by public donations, the temple is a non-profit organization that provides meditation lessons to the interested public from all over the world. Due to its size and facilities, the temple is often used as a venue for gatherings and meetings of monks, novices, lay Buddhists, as well as peace lovers of all religions.
